The coupling for use with flexible cables has a housing 2 that acts as socket unit and into this are set metal contact bushes 5b within a separate sleeve 1 of insulating material that latches into position. The ends of the contact bushes are formed with latching features 18 and have spring contacts 8 to grip the ends of cable cores inserted through a locking element 25. A cover 3 protects the contact bushes when not coupled to a plug.
