Multiple insulating glazing with frame-spaced plastics film between panes

The two spacers (3,4) are mutually mechanically positioned and held in their required end position by means of a supportive foil (8) spanning and fixed to both spacers and first sealing material with the necessary gas-diffusion sealing resistance arranged in the space (9) outside the film (8). A second sealing material with high mechanical resistance is also arranged in the space (7) between the spacers and the inside of the foil (8) so the edge of the plastics film (5) is bedded into it. The preferred second material is a silicon or polyurethane adhesive and the first material consists of a polysulfide adhesive. The supportive foil is made of Al or its alloy and should be self-adhesive, and wide enough to be folded round the outside edges (11,12) of both the spacers (3,4) to reach just short of the glass (1,2). The mechanical spacing system includes connecting pins spread round the spacers, or again the spacers are held in position by corner connectors allocated to the respective frame-type spacers.
