The present invention relates to the use of 3-(N-butyl-acetamino)-ethyl propionate for improving the photostability of photoprotective filters belonging to the class of cinnamic acid derivatives in cosmetic preparations. The invention further relates to cosmetic preparations containing at least one photoprotective filter belonging to the class of cinnamic acid derivatives, whereby the photostability of said filter is improved by means of 3-(N-butyl-acetamino)-ethyl propionate. The invention also relates to a method for improving the photostability of photoprotective filters belonging to the class of cinnamic acid derivatives with regard to ultraviolet radiation in cosmetic formulations by the addition of an effective quantity of 3-(N-butyl-acetamino)-ethyl propionate.
