The lever comprises a movable handle unit (1) which has a predetermined reference position, and a sensor unit (8) which detects and indicates the reference position of the handle unit (1). The sensor unit comprises at least three contactless activated switches (11), which are arranged at least roughly along an arc, spaced from one another. A first reference point (7) is preferably located at the movable handle unit, and a second reference point (9) is located at a non-movable part of lever, whereby the distance between both reference points is minimal. The switches are preferably on-off switches, especially reed switches.
