The first safety valve (10) between the brake lines to the righthand and lefthand front wheels cuts out any line falling below the required oil pressure from the main cylinder and at the same time switches this wheel into the other brake line still in operation. A second safety valve (20) between rear wheel brake lines similarly cuts out subpressure lines and links the affected wheel to the line still operating. The first valve contains a shutoff valve dealing with the faulty line and a control valve which cuts out the faulty line by activating the shutoff valve as a function of the pressure gradient between the two lines to the front wheels.
