The wheel mounting device has a pair of wheel axles (10,30) extending sidewards from the vehicle chassis (1), with a wheel mounting unit (11-33,31-33) attached to each end of each axle, for supporting a respective wheel (14,34). Each wheel mounting unit has a bearing sleeve (11,31) at the end adjacent the axle, for fitting over the end of the latter and a projecting carrier rod (12,32) extending at right angles to the bearing sleeve, with a 90 degree section (13,33) at its free end, extending parallel to the axle, for supporting the wheel.
