[Also in Division C2] Pharmaceutical preparations, having the effect of lowering blood sugar, comprise as active ingredient compounds I (including salts thereof), wherein X and W signify O, S or a direct bond, Y is alkylene, R, R' and R" signify H, halogen, alkyl, alkoxy, alkenyloxy, benzyloxy, C 5 or 6 cycloalkyl, alkylmercapto, alkylsulphinyl, alkylsulphonyl, phenyl, acyloxy, acyl, benzoyloxy, benzoyl, CF 3 , CN, NO 2 , acylamino or carbamoyl, Z is H or alkyl, R"' is a C 1 to 8 hydrocarbon group which may be cyclic and/or may be interrupted by one or more oxygen atoms, or is a phenyl group that is substituted by one or more halogen atoms, alkoxy groups and alkylmercapto groups, and A signifies a monocyclic or bicyclic aryl group, a heterocyclic group or an araliphatic group. The usual forms for oral administration are described. Among the bases specified for salt formation are butyl-biguamide, methylglucamine, morpholine and ethanolamine.
