A boomerang (10) has a substantially flat configuration including a central hub portion (12) and radially projecting blade portions (14). The boomerang comprises a core material (24) sandwiched between two layers (26, 28) of a skin material to form a laminate, the skin material having a more nearly continuous matrix than the core material. One or both layers of the skin material may be pre-printed and pre-colored, or have glow in the dark materials incorporated therein. The skin on the upper and lower surfaces of the core may have different thicknesses or be of different materials from each other. The boomerang is manufactured by applying a skin having a bias direction on the upper and lower surfaces of the core at a selected angular orientation to the blades of the core and fusing the skin to the core.
