Electrically operated parking brake for motor vehicle

The servo operated parking brake has two electric motors (22,24) mounted in one unit with a sliding fitting inside a brake housing (18). Each motor has a drive shaft with threaded spindle drive (36,38) into one of two captive nuts (46) and with each nut attached to a brake cable to one of the two wheels on an axle. One motor is operated for normal braking and the other is operated by a standby emergency control if the first motor system fails. Through the floating mounting of the motors only one motor need to operate to apply the parking brake. The two motors are mounted back to back in one simple module.
