<p>Pyrotechnic gas generator (1) intended notably for car safety comprises hollow body (2) equipped with opening (14a,b) to allow gas to escape, an ignition device (6,7,8) and pyrotechnic filler (12) consisting principally of an organic binder and combustible charge, the speed of combustion of which reaches a minimum value when the pressure to which it is subjected exceeds a value Po. The opening is closed by a device comprising component (15) with cylindrical hole (16) closed by casing (17) which ruptures when internal pressure in generator, Pc exceeds Po. The diameter of the hole being such that the instantaneous drop in pressure following the rupture of the casing is < Pc - Po; and component consists of material which is eroded by the flow of gas during combustion of filler.</p> |
