1,246,844. Electro-physical measurement: sorting ores. SPHERE INVESTMENTS Ltd. Oct. 31, 1969 [Nov.12, 1968], No. 53471/68. Heading G1N. To sort magnetic rock ore pieces moving in a wide path and having haphazard alignment and spacing (e.g. along a conveyer) a magnet 12 is mounted under the slide-plate 14 and a plurality of magnetometers 20a (e. g. Hall-plates) are positioned across the lower part of the plate to control air-jets 21 deflecting the rock pieces according to their residual magnetism. Photoelectric detectors (32) co-operating with a light source (33) may be used to control the duration of the air pulse according to the size of the rock Fig. 3 (not shown). MODIFICATIONS of the magnetizing arrangements are described, Figs.4..10 (not shown) including A. C. fields (indicated by double-headed arrow), with and without D.C. fields, remote from and at the magnetometer station.
|
