Process for the preparation of yellow iron oxide pigments and its use

A method for producing iron oxide seeds used for the production of iron oxide pigments comprises precipitation of up to 30-80% of the available iron in the form of an Fe-II compound from an aq. iron chloride solution using an alkaline reagent. The iron chloride solution also contains aliphatic amine in such quantity that 0.05 to 0.5 mg of organic carbon is present for each gram of iron chloride. This precipitated Fe-II compound is oxidised by an oxidising agent. Also claimed is a method of producing yellow iron oxide pigments using such seeds.
