The method involves fitting the cutting tool bit (12) to a rotating mount (16) and positioning it inside a treatment chamber (10). High pressure fluid jets (28) are directed at the tool bit while it rotates. The jets remove any burrs without blunting the cutting edges. Water or oils can be used for the jets. The treatment chamber can be circular, with the jets (26) spaced around the circumference. Pressure levels for the jets are between 50 and 1000 bar depending on the material of the cutting tool. The jets can be set in different planes to cover the length of the cutting edge of the tool. |
