<p>A method for determining the color of an illuminant of a scene includes the steps of: forming a color digital image of the scene; forming a chromaticity bitmap (56) of the digital image; smoothing the chromaticity bitmap (58); identifying a plurality of spokes in the smoothed chromaticity bitmap and projecting a plurality of beams across the smoothed chromaticity bitmap (510), each beam encompassing one of the spokes; identifying the intersection of the area occupied by the beams (512); and determining the central tendency of the intersection (514) to determine the color of the illuminant.</p> |
