PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a hard coating composition capable of improving a scratch resistance while keeping dyeability and antistatic properties and capable of providing a coating film manifesting an excellent adhesion to an inorganic vapor deposited film for preventing reflection by formulating a specific added essential component with a hydrated product of a specified trialkoxysilane. SOLUTION: This hard coating composition consists essentially of mainly (A) a hydrated product of a trialkoxysilane of formula I (R1 is H or CH3 ; R2 is a 1-4C alkylene; R3 is a 1-4C alkyl), (e.g. glycidoxymethyltrimethoxysilane), (B) a hydrated product of a dialkoxysilane of formula II (R4 is R1 ), (e.g. glycidoxymethyldiethoxysilane), (C) a hydrated product of a tetraalkoxysilane of the formula Si(OR1 )4 (R1 is a 1-4C alkyl), (e.g. tetraethoxysilane), (D) a metal oxide fine powder having 1-200nm particle diameter, (e.g. colloidal silica) and (E) a metal chelate [preferably, acetylacetonatoiron(III), etc.] as a catalyst. |
