PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve the water resistance and color fastness to light by adding a specified amphoteric polymeric compound having an allylamine unit expressed by a specific formula, a cationic unit selected from inorganic acid salts and organic acid salts and an anionic unit expressed by a specific formula as an essential component. SOLUTION: In an ink jet recording medium, a specified amphoteric polymeric compound having an allylamine unit expressed by structural formulas I, II stated separately (where R<1> , R<2> are a hydrogen atom, a methyl group, an ethyl group, a cyclohexyl group, R<3> a hydrogen atom, a methyl group, an ethyl group, and a benzyl group, R<4> a hydrogen atom, a methyl group, an ethyl group, and a benzil group, X is an anion), at least one type of cationic units selected from inorganic acids and salts and organic acids and salts, and at least one type of anionic units expressed by structural formulas III, IV stated separately (R<6> is a hydrogen atom, a methyl group, Y is hydrogen, Na, K, NH4 , 1/2Ca, 1/2Mg) are contained as an essential component. |
