PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain an ink jet recording medium that excels in ink absorbency, produces less dot bleeding and is water resistant, by applying a coating whose main components is a cationic resin ink fixing agent, to paper having a specified Stockigt sizing degree, and adjusting the sizing degree to a specified range. SOLUTION: In an ink jet recording medium that is recorded with aqueous ink, the Stockigt sizing agree is adjusted to 4-20sec by applying a coating whose main component is a cationic resin ink fixing agent is applied to paper having Stockigt sizing degree of 3sec or less. The Stockigt sizing degree can be controlled only by the cationic resin ink fixing agent. However, a small amount of a sizing agent may be added. The sizing agent may be cationic, anionic or nonionic. From the view-point of stability and water resistance of the coating, the cationic sizing agent is preferable. As cationic resin, dicyandiamide.diethylene triamine polycondensates may be mentioned. |
