PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To decide at a high reliability and rapidly regardless of the mode of the sudden deceleration condition. SOLUTION: The acceleration of a vehicle is detected, the detected acceleration is integrated, and at the same time, the integral value SG of the square of the acceleration is operated by using the detected acceleration. To the plural sections Win 1, Win 2, and Win 3 preset by the integrated valueΔV of the acceleration, the maximum valueΔV1,ΔV2, and,ΔV3, of the respective sections, and the specific threshold values SG1, SG2, and SG3 compared with the integral value SG are preset, and it is decided whether the second condition where the integrated valueΔV exceeds the maximum values (ΔV1,ΔV2, andΔV3) has accomplished or not, after the first condition where the integral value SG exceeds the threshold values (SG1, SG2, and SG3), at each section. And when it is decided that the second condition has accomplished, after the the first condition is decided to have accomplished, it is decided the vehicle is in a sudden deceleration condition.
