PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a new peptide or protein, comprising a protein or a peptide, having an epitope containing a specific amino acid sequence and related to the metastasis of tumor, especially transitional cell carcinoma and useful for elucidation, detection, treatment, prevention, etc., of cancer metastasis. SOLUTION: This new protein or peptide has an amino acid sequence containing Pro-Gly-Pro-Gly or Pro-Ala-Pro-Ala and is related to cancer metastasis and useful as an epitope of a metastasis-related antigen in tumor, especially transsitional cell carcinoma for detection of metastasized cancer, treatment or prevention after the cancer metastasis, elucidation, etc., of mechanism of the cancer metastasis. The protein or peptide is obtained by screening an expression library constructed from a BOY cell established from a metastatic malignant bladder carcinoma with a monoclonal antibody against a glycoprotein isolated from the BOY cell, fusing an insert of the resultant clone to a β- galactosidase and expressing the refultant DNA. |
