PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a low-cost extreme/pressure additive having good heat and chemical resistances by using a fluorohydrocarbon compound having partially fluorinated alkyl, alkenyl or polyether groups with a specified number of carbon atoms and containing oxygen or sulfur atoms in the molecule. SOLUTION: This extreme-pressure additive comprises mainly a fluorohydrocarbon compound containing oxygen or sulfur atoms in the molecule and represented by, e.g. the formula [R<1> , R<2> and R<3> are each F-, or a partially or completely fluorinated 1-3C linear or branched alkyl pr alkenyl (which may be partially substituted by halogen atoms other than fluorine atoms); R<4> is a 1-30C linear or branched alkyl or alkenyl (which may be partially substituted by halogen atoms other than fluorine atoms), or a 2-500C polyetyer group (which may be partially substituted by halogen atoms); and X is O or S].
