PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To produce a high-quality thick-size yarn excellent in mechanical characteristics or dyeability without any loop, fuzz and unevenness of size by melt spinning a specific fiber-forming polyester, subsequently running the resultant fiber through a heating zone and then drawing the running fiber. SOLUTION: A polyethylene terephthalate having 0.65-0.75 intrinsic viscosity is melt discharged from a spinneret having 0.049-0.283mm<2> nozzle single hole area at 80-250 spinning draft, once cooled to a temperature below the glass transition point, then run in a heating zone having 5-15mmϕinlet diameter and 100-200cm length at 150-250cm distance from the spinneret, drawn and heat-treated. An oil agent is then applied thereto and the oiled yarn is taken off at >=4,000m/min speed to afford a polyester yarn having >=50% trans fraction in a crystal region in the whole trans fraction measured according to an infrared absorption method, >=4 de single filament size and >=24 number of filaments. The resultant polyester yarn is used as a core yarn and another polyester yarn is used as a lateral yarn to form a false twisted textured yarn of a multilayered structure.
