PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To make it possible to operate the influence width induced by individual actuators by bringing a guiding surface into contact with the outlet of a metering slot and setting a length adjustably in one direction parallel with the flow direction of a coating medium along this guiding surface. SOLUTION: The thin and straight guiding panel 18 mounted at an approach side lip 12 is brought into contact with the outlet of the metering slot 10 and is extended beyond the free terminal of a retreat side lip 14. This guiding panel 18 is set on the metering slot 10 side in such a manner that the length L thereof from the outlet of the metering slot 10 to the free terminal of the guiding surface 16 is made continuously adjustable in the direction parallel with the flow direction of the coating medium 2 along the guiding surface 16. As a result, the guiding surface 16 for ejecting the coating medium 2 as an open jet F from the metering slot 10 is improved and, therefore, the operation of the influence width induced by the individual actuators is made possible.
