A machine for slicing a product (2), such as rod-shaped sausage or the like, com prises a knife for cutting off slices from one end of the product (2). The product (2) is held at t he other end by claws (8) in order to advance the product (2) against the knife. The claws (8) a re helically curved and are rotatably driven about the centre axis of the helix.
