A flanged spool made of plastic, in particular for the taking-up of glass fiber yarns, has an essentially cylindrical jacket (1) which forms a winding surface with a flange (3) extending radially outwards on one end and a concentric collar (9) with a reduced diameter on the other end and with a supporting element (11) inside the jacket (1) which has a central guide bush (12) designed to be radially flexible and elastic in a peripheral area (16) facing the end with the flange (3) (bottom end). This flexibility reliably ensures that the peripheral area (16) fits closely on a receiving lug, thus improving the rotating and the load bearing qualities.
