BURGLARY PREVENTION DEVICE FOR STEERING COLUMN OF AUTOMOBILE

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To ressolve the deffect of the steering lock with such type that a bolt is fitted to the recess in a steering column shaft. SOLUTION: A steering column includes a gear wheel 22 fixed coaxially to a steering column shaft 10 and a pinion 18 providing an axis A2 in parallel with a steering column axis A1. This pinion 18 is installed rotatably on a movable pinion support body 20, which can displace between an outer position in which the pinion 18 is come off from a gear wheel 22 and a meshed position in which the pinion 18 is meshed with the gear wheel 22. This steering lock includes a clutch by which the pinion 18 is not rotated around the axis below a specific torque on the pinion support body 20.
