Means for effecting the continuous catalytic oxidation of a waste gas stream by providing for the cocurrent flow of subdivided catalyst particles therewith upwardly in the lower part of a reactor-stack unit, separating the catalyst particles from the contacted gas stream at the upper end of the reactor section and returning them to a collecting and flow regulating means for reintroduction into a waste gas inlet zone to the unit. Burner means, mounted in combination with the inlet zone, is utilized to provide a hot gas stream to contact the recirculated catalyst particles and thus heat and regenerate them for use in the continuous catalytic oxidation system.
