PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a new compound having an imidazoline structure, having high affinity to imidazloine receptor, extremely low in affinity to adrenoreceptor and capable of being used also for the therapy of diabetes, depression, Parkinson's disease, etc. SOLUTION: A compound of formula I [R is a group of formula II (R1 is a 1-6C alkyl, a halogen, H; when R1 is the 1-6C alkyl, R2 , R3 , R5 are each H; R4 is a halogen; or R2 is cyano; R3 to R5 are each H, etc.), a naphythyl group of formula III (R6 is a halogen, a 1-6C alkyl, methoxy), etc.], its isomer or its pharmaceutically acceptable acid adduct. For example, 2-(4-biphenyl)Δ<2> - imidazoline. The compound of formula I is obtained e.g. by condensing a nitrile of the formula: R-C≡N with ethylenediamine in the presence of a catalytic amount of phosphorus pentachloride. Thereby, the treatments of cardiovascular diseases, hypertension and psychiatric and neurological abnormalities can be expected. |
