PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent the collision of a carriage with a side wall caused by the stepping-out of a stepping motor by stopping the carriage when the pulse rate of the stepping motor is beyond a preset specified value while the carriage passes through a given position. SOLUTION: The pulse rate of a stepping motor (main operation motor) 8 when a carriage 5 passes through a given position is monitored, and whether a measured pulse rate f2 is beyond a pulse rate f1 of the preset specified value or not (f2>f1) is judged. When the pulse rate is not beyond f1 (f1>=f2), the normal operation is continued. When it is beyond f1 (f2>f1), decelerating profile is provided for the drive of the carriage 5 to control the carriage 5 to stop forcibly in any case. The collision of the carriage with a side plate (side wall component) can be avoided by the arrangement. |
