PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a detoxifying process and a detoxifying device for detoxifying ammonia in gas containing ammonia of high concentration effectively and at low cost. SOLUTION: A part of gas containing ammonia of high concentration is introduced into a catalyst oxidization reaction cylinder 4 to oxidize ammonia and convent the same into nitrogen oxide, and the nitrogen oxide thus formed is oxidized by a cooling oxidization cylinder 5 to prepare nitrogen dioxide, which is reacted with water in a nitric acid preparation tank 6 to prepare nitric acid. The nitric acid thus formed and ammonia in the remaining part are neutralized in a neutralization tank 9 to prepare ammonium nitrate.
