摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain the glass fiber having a specific glass composition, having a characteristic of low dielectric constant, reduced in the generation of bubbles in a melting process and further reduced in the generation of scums due to the evaporation of B2 O3 in high productivity. SOLUTION: SiO2 is used an amount of 52-57wt.% to lower the dielectric constant of the glass fibers and hold good water resistance and acid resistance. Al2 O3 is used in an amount of 12-15wt.% to lower a phase-splitting property, hold water resistance, and inhibit the elevation in the temperature of a liquid phase, thereby preventing the deterioration of spinnability. B2 O3 is used as a flux in an amount of 20-24wt.% to lower viscosity and facilitate the melting of the glass composition. CaO is used as a flux together with MgO in an amount of 2-8wt.%. MgO is used in an amount of 2-8wt.% as a component for inhibiting the melt-separation of the glass composition at the initial melting time to reduce scums generated on the surface of an oven. Li2 O, Na2 and K2 O are used as fluxes in amounts of 0-0.3wt.%, 0-0.3wt.% and 0-0.4wt.%, respectively, in an total amount of 0-1.0wt.%. Fe2 O3 is used in an amount of 0.2-0.6wt.% and is effective for inhibiting the generation of bubbles produced at the melting time to reduce the bubbles, thus giving a low dielectric constant.
