<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To detect valve lift without a position sensor by providing a rotary shaft with a signal generating wheel surveyed by a sensor generating output signal, obtaining the angle position of the shaft from the output signal, and obtaining a twist angle between both camshafts from the measured angle position, a reference angle, and the like. SOLUTION: A phase signal generating wheel 17 is fitted to a second camshaft 11 interlockingly rotated by a crankshaft 19, and a specific number of marks provided on the peripheral surface are surveyed by a phase sensor 18. A crankshaft signal generating wheel 21 is fitted to the crankshaft 19, and a rotating speed signal generator 20 is disposed at the peripheral surface. Output signals of the phase sensor 18 and signal generator 20 are inputted to a controller 22. On the basis of input signals, a twist angle between first and second camshafts 10, 11 is detected, and valve lift is obtained from the measured phase relation according to the fixed dependence between the twist angle and valve lift and used as a reference signal for calibrating a position sensor, for instance.</p> |
