PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a paper for OCR having excellent writing characteristics for both an oily ink and an aqueous ink by coating an aqueous resin on or impregnating the one into a paper substrate consisting essentially of cellulose pulp. SOLUTION: This paper for OCR is obtained coating 0.5-2.0wt.% aqueous resin such as a starch oxide on or impregnating the one into a paper substrate obtained by adding a pigment such as kaolin, a paper-strengthening agent, a rosin sizing agent, aluminum sulfate, etc., to a cellulose pulp slurry, and performing papermaking to provide the paper for the OCR having various characteristics such as 0.10-0.30sec/μm penetrating degree of castor oil, <=50 sec/100 ml air permeability and 40-60 sec sizing degree.
