FIELD: manufacture of fittings; control of flows of aggressive media transported by pipe lines. SUBSTANCE: ball cock has body, porcelain shut-off plug engageable with seat seals, rod engageable with plug and sealed by means of laminated packing. Engageable surfaces of plug and seals are made over cone. Layers of gland packing are made from different materials having different viscosity. Center layer is made from low-viscosity material and end layers are made from porous non-fluid material. EFFECT: reduced force for tightening up rod seal; improved quality of cock and extended field of application. 1 dwga
