The arrangement incorporates a mounting ring (2) which can be secured to the top of a chimney, or a standpipe, and a cover (8) which covers the opening of the chimney. The cover is attached to the mounting ring by a number of support strips (1) which leave ventilation openings (6) under the cover. The support strips are attached to the outside of the mounting ring at a short distance from the top edge of the ring. Mounting ring and support strips are made as one part.
