Appts. for determining the erythrocyte sedimentation rate (ESR) of blood comprises a measuring cell, that includes a compartment for holding the sample; attached electrical system for measuring capacitance (C) of the blood; system for measuring the haematocrit (H) and electrical system for measuring ESR from an empirical relation expressing ESR in terms of C and H.
