The sliding panel door consists of a series of hinged panels (2) which form a continuous vertical surface when closed and pivot relative to one another when the door is opened, e.g. sliding into a space at the top of the vehicle or building. The panels are joined together by interlocking curved members (2a,2b) in the form of a projection (2a4) of circular curved cross-section along one edge of each panel engaging with a recess (2b4) of matching section in the adjoining panel. After the panels have been assembled an insert (8) is fitted into each joint to limit the angle of rotation of adjacent panels and to receive a shaft (7a) with a roller (7) which runs in a guide at the side of the door. The panels are made, for example, from plastic or aluminium.
