摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a filter press type electrolytic cell which is simple in fabrication, may be inexpensively manufactured and ensures the sufficient flow of an electrolyte without leakage by arraying many bipolar electrolytic cell units via cation exchange membranes and providing the upper sides of the anode chambers and cathode chambers of the respective units with steam separating chambers respectively having discharge nozzles. SOLUTION: The many bipolar electrolytic cell units constituted by combining the cathode chambers 22 and the anode chambers 23 back to back are arrayed via the cation exchange membranes 19 held by anode side and cathode side gaskets 20, 21 and are assembled by fastening bodies 26, by which the bipolar filter press type electrolytic cell is obtd. The non-energization sections in the upper parts of the cathode chambers 22 and the anode chambers 23 are respectively integrally provided with the steam separating chambers and are further provided with the common discharge nozzles 13 for the electrolyte and gases connected thereto. The steam separating chambers are formed >=15cm<2> in section area and the nozzles 13 are preferably formed face downward from horizontal and are formed to a diameter of >=15mm. Further, cylindrical ducts which are the internal circulating flow passages for the electrolytes are disposed between the anode electrode chamber side walls and the electrodes.
