PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a biodegradable resin compsn. which can be foamed to a high foaming ratio without using a special blowing agent and provide a method for foaming the same. SOLUTION: This compsn. comprises a biodegradable resin (a cellulose ester) 1 and water 3. This foaming method comprises the step of actively incorporating water 3 into a biodgradable resin 1 and the step of heating the resin 1 to the b.p. of water 3 or higher to boil and vaporize water contained in the resin 1.
