Synthetic hydrophobic materials are printed in 1 or more colours by printing the material directly with a solution or dispersion of a dye and/or an optical bleach which sublimes at 140-250 deg.C. and heating the printed portions, preferably to the temp. of sublimation. The method is simple and requires no auxiliaries or post-treatment. The process is applied to knitted, (non) woven fabrics or films, particularly carpets, of polyesters, cellulose esters, polyamides and/or polyacrylonitrile or their mixtures with natural fibres. |
