<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce a delivery rate of soot shaped particle in exhaust gas from a diesel engine by providing with a first catalyst for oxygenating NO into NO2 , and a second catalyst for oxygenating at least hydrocarbon, CO, and volatile organic component, and carrying each catalyst to a honeycomb circulating monolith. SOLUTION: In an exhaust gas emission control device for especially a light diesel engine, a first catalyst 2 which is effectively for oxygenating NO to NO2 , and a second catalyst 3 which is effectively for oxygenating at least hydrocarbon, carbon monoxide, and volatile organic component, are arranged in a common casing in series. Each catalyst 2, 3 is carried on a honeycomb circulating monolith, and soot shaped particle collected by the second catalyst monolith is burnt in gas including NO2 from the first catalyst 2. A material for suppressing collection of the soot shaped particle to a minimum level is used in the first catalyst monolith, platinum of 1.77 to 17.06g per 1 little is carried to the first catalyst 2, and the first catalyst, carrying has cell of 31cell/cm<2> and less.</p> |
