PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a polyester yarn excellent in clarity, deep colorability, wear resistance and productivity, having a handle of dry touch. SOLUTION: This polyester. yarn comprises both side parts of three parts obtained by dividing yarn width into equal three parts, hardly having observable closed pores and composed of a great number of small ridges connected in a stripe state when the whole side of the yarn is looked with a magnification of×3,000. The polyester has irregular unevenness and 0.001-5.0μm pores different in size and depth in the direction of fiber axis and 0.001-3.0μm size and depth in the direction perpendicular to the fiber axis and 0.01-0.5μm maximum depth when the surface of the yarn is looked with a magnification of×8,000. The yarn has 50-3,000 primary particles/μm<2> contained in the cross section of the yarn.
