PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To produce the subject new protein material comprising a water-soluble protein obtained from supernatant fraction of the homogenized liquid obtained by swelling a seed of kidney bean plant by salt water and finely milling the swelled plant, and having an activities, etc., for propagating and activating leukocyte. SOLUTION: This new protein material is constituted of constituting amino acids such as aspartic acid, threonine, serine, glutamic acid, proline, glycine, alanine, valine, methionine, isoleucine, leucine, tyrosine, phenylalanine, lysine, histidine and arginine, has an elemental analysis value of 44.84% carbon, 6.69% hydrogen, 9.96% nitrogen and 38.51 oxygen, and shows a single band having 48,000 average molecular weight by an SDS-acrylamide gel slab electrophoresis method. The protein material is useful for propagation of lymphocyte and neutrophil, and as an agent for activating the lymphocyte, an agent for increasing platelet, etc. the protein is obtained by swelling a bean of a kindney bean plant by water, finely milling the swelled plant in a salt water and purifying the supernatant fraction of the homogenized liquid of the obtained milled bean by performing a precipitation by ammonium sulfate and dialysis, gel filtration, etc. |
