PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To record images having a nearly uniform image area and a gradational image area with good quality, by providing a first recording means for recording gradational images by a recording head, and a second recording means for recording images of a nearly uniform density with the use of all of a plurality of recording agents of the recording head. SOLUTION: In recording images, pixels of pixel values in a range 255-192 among pixels of input image data are binarized by a CPU 103 with a threshold value of a pixel value 224. The obtained pixels are stored as an output image data M1 in a RAM 106. Pixels of pixel values in a range 191-128 are binarized with the threshold value of a pixel value 160. The obtained pixels are set as an output image data M2 and those of the data M2 having a pixel value 0 are stored as pixels of the output image data M1. Then, a background area and a gradational image area are determined on the basis of the generated output image data. The background area is recorded with the use of all ink on a recording head. |
