摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a close structured magnetic resonance imaging magnet which accomplishes an MRI imaging of a high quality shortening an axial length. SOLUTION: A close structured magnetic resonance imaging magnet 110 has a superconducting coil assembly 112 containing a coil housing 114 and the coil housing 114 houses a pair of superconducting main coils 128 and 130, a pair of superconducting backing coils 136 and 138 and at least one of additional superconducting main coils 146 and 148. The superconducting backing coils 136 and 138 feed a current in the direction opposite to the direction of the current of the main coils 128 and 130 while is arranged vertically between the main coils 128 and 130 at a point roughly the same in the radial distance as the main coils 128 and 130. The additional superconducting main coils 146 and 148 feed a current in the same direction as the main coils 128 and 130 while being arranged vertically between the backing coils 136 and 138.
