PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a coloring composition for image recording excellent in various properties including fastness by an ink jet method by using a specific yellow monoazo pigment composition as a coloring agent. SOLUTION: This coloring composition comprises a mixture of (A) 99.8-80mol% yellow monoazo pigment having a specific structure in compounds of formula I (X1 to X3 , and Y1 to Y3 are each H, a 1-3C alkyl, etc.), (B) 0.2-20mol% yellow monoazo pigment of formula I having a substituting group different from the component A and/or of formula II, obtained as a mixed state when producing the pigments, and, if necessary, further includes rosins or a yellow monoazo pigment composition treated by a well-known treating agent as a coloring matter. The before pigment preferably has <=0.15μm average particle diameter. For example, the before monoazo pigment is C.I. pigment yellow 74, etc., obtained by diazotizing 2-methyhoxy-4-nitroaniline and coupling the product with acetoaceto-2-methoxyanilide. |
