SPLITTABLE ACRYLIC SYNTHETIC YARN AND ITS PRODUCTION

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a splittable acrylic synthetic yarn useful for both clothing and materials, excellent in splittability in water and heat-resistant dimensional stability industrially readily and inexpensively. SOLUTION: This splittable acrylic synthetic yarn comprises 65-96wt.% of an acrylic polymer containing at least >=80wt.% of acrylonitrile and 4-35wt.% of a cellulose acetate having 0.5-1.4 intrinsic viscosity [η] and has <=5% percentage of shrinkage in boiling water. The yarn is produced by subjecting a spinning solution comprising 65-96wt.% of the acrylic polymer containing at least >=80wt.% of acrylonitrile and 4-35wt.% of the cellulose acetate having 0.5-1.4 intrinsic viscosity [η] and a solvent to wet spinning, drawing, washing with water, drawing the yarn in wet heat at 100-140 deg.C and shrinking the yarn in wet heat at 100-140 deg.C.
