PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent the occurrence of trouble, such as interference between automatic steering for correction of a course and operation of a handle by a driver as a result of a steering effort and a correction steering force in a reverse direction being unconsciously generated by a driver against a reaction force since a reaction force to a handle is increased when a wide deviation in a course occurs due to sideways wind, in a case of correction of a course through control of steering of front wheels. SOLUTION: A steering control device for a vehicle comprises a first computing means M2 to calculate to a steering control amount of a front wheel based on the recognition result of a guide line; a second computing means M3 to re-calculate an amount of control of steering of front wheels and an amount of control of steering of rear wheels so that an amount of control of steering of front wheels is prevented from exceeding a given value when the amount of control of steering of front wheels exceeds the given value; and a control means M4 to effect steering of front wheels or the front wheel and rear wheels based on an amount of control of steering obtained by the first or the second computing means. Thereby, an amount of control of steering of the front wheels is protected from exceeding a given value and resultantly, since a feeling of physical disorder is prevented from being imparted to a driver, interference between control of steering and operation of a handle by a driver is prevented from occurring. |
