PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a sponge having a homogeneous structure and preventing the splash of water even upon being squeezed in a water containing state, as well as a method to inexpensively manufacture the sponge. SOLUTION: This gelatinized sponge is prepared by freezing and thawing a gelatinized substance having many holes (diameter: 10mm or less, gap: 5mm or less) along a unilateral direction, or an intersecting multi-way direction. In this case, a continuous extrusion molding mouthpiece is used for drilling the holes in the unilateral direction, and large holes having a diameter between 10mm and 30mm or more, and small holes having a diameter less than 10mm may be mixed. Also, both of the continuous extrusion molding mouthpiece and a frog-like jig are used for drilling the holes in the intersecting multi-way direction.
