The invention relates to a method for joining together construction plates L1, L2 along their side edges. Flanges 10 provided with projections 11 have been formed on the side edges of both plates. A clamping strip 13 with a U-shaped profile is placed against the joint between the plates, the mid-section 14 of the U-shaped profile being provided with holes 15 along the length of the strip. The holes are dimensioned and located so that the projections 11 of the flanges engage in the holes 15 when the strip is placed against the joint 12. The clamping strip 13 is knocked towards the pockets 17 formed by the projections, so that the upper edges of the holes engage in the pockets 17. The projections 11 have been made by making slots in the edges of the flanges 10 along the length of the plate, so that those parts 19 situated between the projections 11 also project out from the surface of the plate. The upper parts of the holes 15 in the clamping strip 13 have been designed as narrowing depressions 18, the plates L1, L2 being pressed tightly up to one another when the projections enter the depressions 18. The contact surface between the plate L1 and L2 and the strip 13 becomes very small and occurs only where the edges 19 between the projections 11 are pressed against the mid-section 14 of the strip 13. <IMAGE>
