The applicant has isolated a virus, hepatitis C virus (HCV), which has been shown to be the primary causative agent of blood-borne NANBH. Original work relating to this virus, which work contains a partial genome sequence of a prototype HCV isolate, has been disclosed in EP publication no. 318 216 and in PCT publication no. WO89/4669. The present invention, which is partially based on novel HCV sequences and polypeptides not presented in said publications, discloses processes for the manufacture of polypeptides and necessary recombinant vectors.
